Description:
Under the supervision of Professor Will Straw, Chair of the History of Technology Timeline Committee of the DOCAM (Documentation and Conservation of Media Arts Heritage) Research Alliance, the candidate will work in collaboration with the current Research Assistant in order to complete a database that will serve as content for an online research tool on the history of technologies. The technologies to be covered in the online timeline are those pertinent to the case studies of artworks held in the collections of museums and art institutions. The candidate will also be responsible for the data entry of the timeline tool.

In order to be eligible for this position, candidates must possess the following qualifications:
· Be a student at the MA or PhD level in Art History, Communications, Library/Information Science or a related field;
· Demonstrate an aptitude for research-oriented work and strong analytic skills.
Possession of the following skills would be desirable:
· Familiarity with the field of media art conservation;
· Fluency in English; bilingualism (French/English) would be a major asset.
Description of duties:
· Familiarizing oneself with the research undertaken thus far by the History of Technology Timeline Committee;
· Integrating research materials into an online timeline tool, by organizing data and entering it into a database;
· Attending meetings of the Committee and of DOCAM Research Assistants;
· Maintaining contact with other DOCAM research committees and with the project administrators.
